The Mashreq & the maghreb
The Mashreq and the Mashreq for CRSMM means the eatern and the western hemispheres of the globe. It also suggests our hope to extend our activities beyond the Arab region to include at one level political and geographical areas connected historically, emotionally and population-wise to the Arab world and at a human level to the East and West at large.
OUR MISSION
The Center for Research and Studies on the Mashreq and the Maghreb (CRSMM) is private, independent, and relies solely on volunteers. It aims at providing services to students, researchers and the civil society in the Mashreq and the Maghreb.
Through education, training, research and information dissemination, CRSMM aims at contributing to human and economic development, furthering scientific knowledge, promoting human rights and basic freedoms and fostering universal human values.
OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
As a group of researchers, academics, professionals and citizens from Japan and the Middle East, we would like to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between people of the Mashreq-and-the Maghreb, promote a two-way flow of information, and nurture friendship and human universal values between people. We hope also to contribute to the development of the region through transferring development information, knowledge expertise and know-how.
To achieve this, we are designing many activities and programs and will rely on volunteer work as well as use the power of the internet and social networking to reach different stakeholders and communities involved.
